I am originally from Ethiopia and grew up surrounded by diverse natural wonders, which sparked my curiosity and love for science at a young age. Instinctively, I received my Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Cell Biology from Jacobs University Bremen in Germany. During my time there, I worked as a student research assistant in the laboratory of Prof. Matthias Ullrich, where I conducted my BSc thesis research on Zinc resistance mechanisms in marine microorganisms. Throughout my studies, I developed a deep passion for microscopy and exploring the intricacies of cellular processes, particularly the process of cell division and cytoskeletal dynamics. Now, at a point in my early scientific career where I am considering pursuing a PhD, I have joined the Mogessie lab to further enhance my skills in state-of-the-art research technologies like confocal microscopy, and to study molecular and cytoskeletal cell biology with a focus on Meiosis in mammalian oocytes. I am looking forward to pursuing my PhD with a strong foundation and advanced knowledge in cell biology that I am gaining through my time here.
